The Rebel Bear Lockdown was created by The Rebel Bear in Glasgow during the first wave of COVID in 2020. It features a man in motion, shackled by a fluorescent green virus – a stark visual metaphor for the weight and restraint that the pandemic placed on so many lives.
Repainted at full scale at BOXXS Linlithgow site in Mill Road Industrial Estate, The Rebel Bear Lockdown piece captures a shared moment in global history, blending bold colour with subtle commentary. It symbolises the tension between our need for movement and connection, and the invisible chains that held us still.
What began on Sunday 6th July 2025 as a one-day street art takeover has now become a permanent part of Linlithgow’s cultural landscape. The exhibition is free and open to the public to view, and suitable for all ages.
This exhibition is proudly hosted at BOXXS Self Storage in Mill Road Industrial Estate.
The Rebel Bear is an anonymous Scottish street artist known for tackling themes like love, politics, identity, and social justice through powerful public murals. His work appears in Glasgow, Paris, New York, and now Linlithgow.
No tickets needed. The exhibition is now permanent, free to attend, and open to the public. Just show up and enjoy the art.
