The Rebel Bear A Wish for Freedom

- Originally painted in Glasgow city centre in 2021

The Rebel Bear A Wish for Freedom was originally painted in Glasgow city centre in 2021, during the deep stillness of the UK’s COVID lockdown. The mural features a young girl blowing on a dandelion, its seeds transforming into a bird mid-flight – a striking image of imagination turning into liberation.

The Rebel Bear later added a soft watercolour background to the canvas version, enhancing the piece’s dream-like tone. Now repainted at full scale for the BOXXS Linlithgow exhibition, this work captures the longing for freedom, for escape, and for brighter skies ahead.

The Rebel Bear A Wish for Freedom steet art piece will be on display as part of the BOXXS Linlithgow exhibition, taking place for one day only on 6 July 2025 at BOXXS in Mill Road Industrial Estate. Visitors can experience this powerful artwork up close, alongside other iconic pieces by The Rebel Bear, displayed at large scale across BOXXS containers.
