The Rebel Bear Dharavi

- First created in the Mumbai slum featured in Slumdog Millionaire

This uplifting piece was painted in 2022 in the Dharavi slum of Mumbai, one of the most densely populated communities in the world and the backdrop to Slumdog Millionaire. The Rebel Bear was inspired by the children who live there – their energy, creativity, and unshakable spirit in the face of hardship.

The Rebel Bear Dharavi artwork features a makeshift seesaw launching a cardboard-helmeted girl skyward, reaching for stars – a celebration of play and imagination, even in the toughest conditions.

Now repainted at full container scale for the BOXXS Linlithgow exhibition in Mill Road Industrial Estate on 6 July 2025, The Rebel Bear Dharavi brings a message of joy, curiosity, and hope across continents.
