The Rebel Bear Lockdown

- Originally painted in Glasgow in 2020.

The Rebel Bear Lockdown was created by The Rebel Bear in Glasgow during the first wave of COVID in 2020. It features a man in motion, shackled by a fluorescent green virus – a stark visual metaphor for the weight and restraint that the pandemic placed on so many lives.

Repainted at full scale for the BOXXS Linlithgow exhibition on 6 July 2025 in Mill Road Industrial Estate, The Rebel Bear Lockdown piece captures a shared moment in global history, blending bold colour with subtle commentary. It symbolises the tension between our need for movement and connection, and the invisible chains that held us still.
