The Rebel Bear Work

- Originally painted in 2019 on the streets of Glasgow.

The Rebel Bear Work piece is The Rebel Bear‘s most personal and introspective pieces. It shows a suited businessman with a briefcase and spear – half caveman, half corporate commuter – standing in quiet contrast to his urban surroundings.

The Rebel Bear Work piece poses a subtle but profound question: how far have we really come from our natural state? And how much of what we now call “normal” is, in fact, deeply unnatural?

As the artist said: “My personal favourite piece I have ever done. How far we have come from our natural state, but also how confused at the world we find ourselves in, even if we don’t realise it consciously.”

The Rebel Bear Work has been repainted at full scale on a BOXXS Self Storage container in Linlithgow for their street art exhibition on 6 July 2025 at Mill Road Industrial Estate.‘Work’ invites every passerby to pause and reflect on the strange, sometimes absurd systems we’ve built around ourselves.
