Boxxs Self Storage is the only self-storage company in Scotland to host a permanent street art exhibition. On Sunday, July 6, 2025, our Linlithgow site at Mill Road Industrial Estate came alive as drive-up containers were transformed into canvases for protest-themed murals. The one-day Rebel Bear Street Art Exhibition drew several hundred visitors who experienced bold artwork on 10-foot and 20-foot shipping containers. Murals that will now remain on display indefinitely. This community-driven activation is “exactly how it should be.”

An Open Air Gallery Experience
Attendees flocked from across West Lothian and beyond, including families, local entrepreneurs, and art enthusiasts from Falkirk, Bo’ness, and Grangemouth, who converged on Boxx’s secure, ANPR-monitored gated site, just a ten-minute walk from Linlithgow station. With free entry and no booking required, visitors strolled between colourful murals and posed for selfies against vibrant backdrops. It proved to be the top “thing to do in Linlithgow.”

Community First Engagement and Free Ice Cream
Boxxs handed out 500 complimentary ice cream cones, turning a summer Sunday into a celebration of creativity. This giveaway underscored our commitment to community engagement. It showed that self-storage “fits around your life,” not just your belongings. Alongside the artwork, visitors could also see that Boxxs still offers clean, weatherproof, secure storage units accessible 24/7, 365 days a year, reinforcing that our core storage services remain best in class.

Quotes from the Director and The Rebel Bear
Jamie Malcolm, Director of Boxxs Self Storage, captured the day’s spirit
“We have always believed BOXXS should be about more than just storage, Having such a high profile, yet anonymous, artist like The Rebel Bear use our facilities to showcase his work flips expectations and brings something vibrant to a space people usually overlook, We are opening the gates and letting art take over.”
A source close to The Rebel Bear added
“Painting on containers is a way to turn something industrial and functional into something beautiful, For the Bear, it’s a rare chance to practice his work without the usual police pressure faced by street artists, We’re excited that people can come see it for free.”
Press Coverage and Lasting Impact
Local and national press took notice. The Daily Record ran “Rebel Bear’s cool street art on show for a day at West Lothian industrial estate,” praising The Rebel Bear’s bold new exhibition. The Scotsman highlighted how Boxxs Self Storage “reimagines self storage as a platform for public art,” Emphasizing the event’s warm welcome to residents and visitors alike from Linlithgow.
Although the exhibition was a one-day event, its murals will now permanently enrich the Mill Road Industrial Estate. Select painted containers will later be repurposed as creative office spaces. This continues to prove Boxxs can turn industrial infrastructure “into something beautiful.”Looking Ahead: Art, Community, Storage.
